Every Sunday from May through October, multiple vendors layout colorful displays of fresh, locally grown, in-season vegetables in Ben Brenman Park in the Cameron Station neighborhood. Hundreds of people in the area come together at the West End Farmers Market to indulge in gourmet coffee, fresh-squeezed orange juice, fresh-baked pastries, and gourmet cheeses and yogurts while picking up a variety of fresh produce for the week. In addition to food items, the market also features artwork from local artists such as jewelry, candles, soaps, pottery, woodwork, photos, toys, among others. Visitors are often treated to music and dancing, and every third Sunday of the month, Beatley librarians come to sell used books for only $1 and share their upcoming events. Other local non-profit organizations and government agencies also set up tents to discuss their services. The West End Farmers Market is open from 9 am to 1 pm and since its outside, you can bring your kids and furry friend along. There's plenty of parking along Brennan Park Drive. The market will still be open during the coronavirus pandemic but shoppers are being asked to keep social distance and to bring along their masks and gloves for protection. Also, only one customer will be allowed per vendor before others proceed into the market. Check out their website to pre-order from participating vendors.
